North Cyprus property - A Dream of an Investment

There is an ever-growing tendency in Europe, particularly among the British, to orientate their investments and their holiday plans towards the beautiful North of Cyprus. This tendency is explained by the numerous advantages that this country provides both for its tourists and for its business owners and investors.

This territory of northern Cyprus is made up of numerous features that are taken from all parts of the country, starting with exotic elements and customs and continuing with the continental characteristics of the country. Hence, we may consider that the colorful and original image of North Cyprus is one of the results of the fusion between all the other features by which this country is characterized.

According to certain sources from Assyria, dating back to the 7th century BC, Nicosia was at one time a city called Ledra. In about 300 BC, Lefkos, the son of Egyptian King Ptolemy Soter I, rebuilt it and his name is immortalised in the modern Turkish name Lefkosa. The more recent Frankish name of Nicosia is considered to have appeared later on in the 12th century.

Besides the natural beauties and advantages of Northern Cyprus, we should also consider its assets related to culture and traditions, as these elements are also important to those interested in investing in real estates this country. The variety of landscape is very remarkable and the plethora of unique features is the very reason for which there are so many amateur investors both in tourism and in real estate. Other reasons that determine their decisions are related to climate, which varies between the Mediterranean type and Continental type.

Moving on to Famagusta, this town is one of the most important fortified ports of the Mediterranean. To the north of Famagusta lies the ruins of the ancient city of Salamis, founded in the 11th Century BC. The city was finally abandoned in 648 AD after being overcome and conquered by several civilizations, most notably the Romans. It had simply seen enough of the earthquakes, other natural catastrophies and also raids from Arab pirates.

Let's take as an example the ancient town of Kyrenia, founded in the 10th century BC by settlers from Achaea. Kyrenia was for many centuries one of the kingdoms of Cyprus. In the 7th century Kyrenia was then further developed by the Byzantines who built the castle. Under the ensuing Ottoman Empire, Kyrenia was still only a minor port. But under the British the well-known harbor and quay were built. A thoroughly attractive, calm and leisurely air pervades the town, ideal as a place for relaxing captains, officers and their families. All in all, quite a delightful town and wonderful tourist attraction.

Hence, northern Cyprus is one of the most unique and popular locations in the Mediterranean, and due to its unique characteristics there has come about a tendency that many people have of choosing this country as their favorite travel destination and tourist attraction.

The real estate market has also become very much in vogue, to such an extent that it has now become one of the most highly developed branches of the local economy. Real estate investment in North Cyprus must now be considered to be one of the continuously growing and developing features of this wonderful exotic country.
