How To Blog: Five Top Tips For A Successful Blog
A few years ago, blogging was a niche activity. Now blogging has become mainstream. Businesses small and large are blogging. But what's a blog?
Essentially a blog is just a Web site. However, it's a Web site in a special chronological format, so that as you "post", or write a new blog item, that new item appears above all the items you've made in the past.
Your aim in creating a blog is readers, as many readers as possible - thousands a day. Thousands of readers translate into dollars, because you can sell to those readers.
Here are five blogging tips which will help you to create a successful blog:
1. Decide on a topic for your blog
Your blog needs to be about something specific, so choose a topic to blog about. Choose any topic about which you have some knowledge, and about which you can write, such as photography, weight loss, or parenting.
2. Talk your blog, don't write it
Write your blog as if you were speaking to a good friend. Even if you're writing a business blog, ensure that you write in a casual fashion. Avoid "business speak."
3. Create a schedule for writing to your blog
A blog that's regularly updated will get new readers. So the more often you can post to your blog the better. Decide on a schedule, and stick to it. Blog once or twice a week, or even once or twice a day.
4. Blog from your readers point of view
Although there's lots of information on the Web, readers are always looking for information that's specific to their interests. This means that you will gain regular readers if you provide them with good, useful information - or even entertainment.
5. Think of your blog as a conversation - encourage your readers to comment
Encourage your readers to chat with you and other visitors to your blog via the comments. The more readers interact, the more they will feel part of the community which builds around your blog.
